Donald Lee ‘Don’ Miller, of Indianapolis, passed away suddenly on the late morning of Tuesday, January 1, 2019. He was 79.
Don was born in Muncie, IN July 24, 1939, the only son of the late Edward W. and Nancy J. (Lynch) Miller. As a young child, the family moved to Beech Grove where he attended Beech Grove Elementary School. The family then moved to Indianapolis and Don attended Manual High School, where he was a member of the Class of 1957. After graduation, Don began a long career with the Bookwalter Printing and Binding Company which later became Rand-McNally Corporation. He retired after 32 years of service. He then worked for eight years as a courier with the South Bend Medical Laboratory. Don dearly loved his family and cherished the time he could spend with them.
An avid sportsman, Don enjoyed boating, water skiing, fishing, camping and golf. He was a devout fan of both the Indiana Pacers and Indianapolis Colts.
Don is survived by his loving wife, Alice Miller; his children, Randy Miller, Donnita K. Smith and Darla J. Miller; his grandchildren, Andrea M. Smith, Kara L. (Danny) Lynch and Matthew R. (Christine Carmichael) Miller; a great-granddaughter, Joplin Anne Miller as well as his dog, Missy.
The family will receive friends Thursday, January 10, 2019 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East.
Funeral services for Don will be Friday, January 11, 2019 at 11:00 am at the funeral center with calling an hour prior to the service. Entombment will follow at Washington Park East Cemetery.
For those choosing to make a memorial contribution, the family has suggested they be offered to the organization of the donor’s choice.
