Donald G. Larson was born in Chicago, Illinois Dec 5, 1924 and died in Indianapolis Nov 4, 2016.
Don was a graduate of North Park College and Northwestern University in Illinois. In Indianapolis, he worked for the Indianapolis Times, the Northwest Press and Citizen’s Gas and Coke Utility. He retired from Citizen’s Gas in December 1989 as the Community Services Manager. He was a member of First Congregational Church, United Church of Christ since the 1950s where he served on various boards and committees. He also served on the Indianapolis School Board in the late 1970s and early 1980s, was a United Way volunteer, a board member for the Indianapolis Inner City Y’s Men’s & Women’s Club and Concord Neighborhood Center.
He is survived by Ceil, his wife of 65 years, and four daughters: Nancy (Steve) Sachs, Sally Coombs, Judith (Ron) Hamm, Susan Larson; 7 grandchildren, Michelle (Ben) Sachs Neyer, Jessica (Zach) Hamm Fordice, Meghann Sachs, Roxanne (Vance) Hamm-Vaden, Melissa Sachs, Jonathan Hamm, Rebecca Hamm Sertic. Great grandson, Alexander Neyer.
Memorial services will be held Saturday Dec 17, 2016 at 11am with visitation beginning at 10 am. Visitation and worship will be held at First Congregational Church, 7171 N. Pennsylvania in Indianapolis. Memorial contributions may be made to First Congregational Church or to Merom Camp & Retreat Center, Inc. On-line condolences may be shared at www.flannerbuchanan.com
