Donald Eugene Kappel

Donald Eugene Kappel, 74 of Avon, Indiana died peacefully at his home on Friday, June 10, 2022, surrounded by his loving wife and loved ones. He was born in Indianapolis, IN on January 16, 1948, to the late Nathaniel and Jean (Edwards) Kappel. Donald was a graduate of Ben Davis High School in 1967, where he was an Indiana State Wrestling Champion that year. He was inducted into the IHSWCA Hall of Fame for wrestlers in 1994. He was the President of Kaps Asphalt Paving, Inc. for 30 years, co-owner with his wife of Pasquale’s Pizza at 3623 W. 16th Street for 10 years, and after retiring from the paving business he started Kappel Trucking, Inc. otherwise known as A 1 Pool Water, that was established in 2000. He enjoyed riding around in his pool water truck. He enjoyed wintering in Lakeland, Florida where you could often find him at a flea market or an estate sale. He was loved by so many and will be missed by all who knew him. Donald is survived by his wife Alene (Fee) Kappel, whom he married January 28, 1968, and they were blessed by this union with two daughters, Vicky Kappel, Jennifer (John) Weeks, grandchildren, Tyler (Kyla) Smith, Courtney (Ty) Majors, Brandon (Emily) Smith, John Daniel Weeks, Jordan Weeks, great grandchildren, Pacey, Paxton, Payton, Payson, Hadley, Holden, Emmett, and brothers, Bill (Donna) Kappel and Bob (Sandy) Kappel. Besides his parents he is preceded in death by his sister, Anita Marie Kappel and brother, Danny Kappel. The family would like to keep Donald’s funeral private, as he requested, but has arranged to share the service via Live Stream by clicking HERE by 10:55am EST, on Wednesday June 15, 2022. He will be laid to rest at Floral Park Cemetery, Indianapolis, IN. The family will have a Celebration of Life Service for the public this fall so please check back on this website for updates.
