Don D. McKibben, age 73, formerly of Indianapolis, passed away February 5, 2018, following a valiant four-decade battle with multiple sclerosis. Don was born in Glenrich, New Jersey on August 7, 1944, to the late Roy and Marjorie (Mirick) McKibben. Don played double bass in the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra for over 20 years. In 1967 he married Becky (Hucks) McKibben, who also played in the Orchestra.
Don was determined to be active and outgoing, always being quick with a joke. Don loved to play music and shared this passion strongly with his family. He enjoyed traveling and volunteering in orchestras including Massachusetts and Norway. Don was active as a member of United Methodist church and participated in his neighborhood’s historical society. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Don is survived by his two daughters, Christina Linde (Tore) and Jennifer Talavage (Thomas), and six grandchildren: Martin, Sarah, Kathryn, James, Craig, and Owen.
Don was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and brother Roy S. McKibben.
