Don Charles Pressley, 81, of Indianapolis, IN passed away May 5, 2021. Don was born in Indianapolis, IN on July 8, 1939 to parents, Charles M. and Elizabeth “Betty” Pressley. He graduated from Arsenal Technical High School, where he met the love of his life, Alberta “Birdie” Docktor. During his career, Don served as a fire fighter with IFD Station #25, retiring in 1998.
Don was a 42-year member of Post Road Christian Church, where he and Birdie taught 2nd Grade Bible Study for two years. Prior to attending Post Road, he was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, where they were youth directors for several years. He was also a member of the Christian Firefighters Association, the Retired Fire Fighters Club.
Don is survived by his wife of 61-years, Alberta E. “Birdie” Pressley; children: Mark Pressley (Nancy Martin-Pressley), Richard Pressley (Christine) and Angela King; grandchildren: Kaitlyn Nevins (Blake), Hank Pressley, William “Jake” Pressley, Brandon Pressley, Lauren Pressley, Andrew Pressley, and Allison King; great-grandchildren, Hudson and Isla Nevins.
Friends may call from 4pm until 8pm, Monday, May 10, 2021 at Flanner Buchanan-Oaklawn Memorial Gardens (9700 Allisonville Road, Indianapolis), where his funeral service will be held at 11am on Tuesday, May 11, 2021. Burial will follow services in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
