Dolores Paicely-McCloud was born the eldest daughter of Otis Hammond and Glenna Hammond-Adams on April 8, 1936 in Indianapolis, Indiana. She departed this life on Monday, October 5, 2020 at the age of eighty-four. Dolores was educated through Indianapolis Public Schools and attended Crispus Attucks High School. Dolores was a devoted wife, mother, sister, and friend, who raised six wonderful children. In her youth, she trained as a nurse’s aide with the Little Flowers’ Society and worked at General Hospital and Central State Hospital. Later, she worked as a nurse’s assistant and medical records clerk at the Cleveland VA Hospital from 1969 to 1973.
After returning to Indianapolis, she worked for the US Army Finance Center for ten years as an Accounting Clerk/Voucher Examiner. She was also a dedicated homemaker and stayed active in social work and made charitable contributions to her community. She was a member of Household of Ruth No. 6887 and the local Indianapolis Chapter of the Fraternal Order of the Elks Club.
Dolores is survived by her four children, Valorie Ray, Ann Byers (Gregory Sr.), Rodney Paicely (Yvonne), and Shaunte Huckleberry-Moore; her sister, Bobbie Hammond-Stone; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, and friends.
Services will be held on Friday, October 16th at Flanner Buchanan Funeral Center, Washington Park North, 2706 Kessler Blvd., West Dr., Indianapolis, IN. Visitation is from 10am to 12pm. The funeral service will begin at 12 Noon.
