Dolores Clarke

Dolores Ann (Bates) Clarke, 87, Indianapolis, died at Westside Garden Plaza on March 4, 2016. She was born September 9, 1928 and was one of fifteen children born to Leonard and Margaret Bates.

Dolores attended St. Patrick grade school, St. John Academy high school, and St. Vincent School of Nursing, after which she worked as a nurse in pediatric intensive care at St. Vincent Hospital for 35 years.

She is preceded in death by her husband Paul; son John; parents; brothers, Leonard, Michael, Gerald, Paul, Patrick, Daniel, and Joseph; and sister, Sr. Mary Margaret, SP. She is survived by her son, Joseph (Leslie); grandsons, John, Andrew, David, and Michael; daughter-in-law Kathleen; sisters, Dorothy Carson, Elizabeth Price, Bernadette Bates, Theresa Bates, and Catherine Souter; brother, Robert Bates; 44 nieces and nephews; 109 great nieces and nephews; and 23 great-great nieces and nephews.

Viewing will be held at Flanner and Buchanan – Carmel, 325 East Carmel Drive, on Tuesday, March 8, 2016, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at 10 a.m. at St. Maria Goretti Church, 17102 Spring Mill Road, Westfield. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Women’s Care Center. Dolores’ family wishes to express their sincerest gratitude to the “angels” at Westside Garden Plaza, who treated Dolores with incredible love and dignity each and every day of her stay.
