Diane Frances Rucker

Diane Rucker, 79 of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away peacefully on October 14th, 2024 with her family at her side. 

Diane was born on May 10th, 1945 in South Bend, Indiana, to Cortland and Geraldine (Shaw) Carrington. She was a graduate of Thomas Cain Howe High School and attended Indiana State University.

She is preceded in death by her husband John Rucker, whom she was married to for 44 years. She is also preceded in death by her beloved daughter Laurie Gordon and sister Joyce (Jerry) Hoff. 

Diane is survived by her brother Cort (Carol) Carrington. Her loving daughter Lisa Rucker-Smith, grandson Cory (Rachel) Rucker, granddaughters Kelsey Smith and Haley (Branden) Hearrell. 

She is also survived by her stepdaughter Kira (Mitch) Sayler; their children Lauren Sayler, Linnea (David) Baza, and Scott Sayler. And Eric (Amanda) Rucker; their children Ru and Jeremy Rucker. As well as great grandchildren Leila and Leighton Rucker, Blakely, Breyar, and Bodie Hearrell, and Santiago Baza.

She and her husband were long time members of St. John’s United Church, where she served for many years. And more recently she began attending Southport Heights Christian Church. 

She gave generously to her family, friends, and community over the years. Taking care of her family was what made her the happiest. Family days with dinner and card games was her perfect day. She enjoyed traveling, many years at the lake house, working as an executive secretary, and loving her cats Rocco and Rudy. 

She will be missed dearly, more than words can express. 

A visitation will be held on Saturday October 19th, 2024 from 11:00 AM to -1:00 PM at Flanner and Buchannan - Washington Park East Funeral Center, located at 10722 E. Washington St. Indianapolis, IN 46229. 

Her funeral service will begin at 1:00 PM.

Burial will follow at Washington Park East Cemetery where Diane will be laid to rest with her husband John.
