Diane Marie Brooks, 71, of Brownsburg passed away peacefully at IU Methodist Hospital on Jan 21, 2022 surrounded by family. She was born on Jan 26, 1950 in Muncie IN to Leo William and Patricia Ann Bauer. She was a 1968 graduate of Muncie Southside High School. She went on to attend Ball State where she graduated with a Masters in elementary teaching in 1972. She married Donald E. Brooks on June 1, 1974.
Diane was an elementary teacher for many, many years before she followed her true passion of becoming a seamstress. She then owned her own sewing business where she made many wedding dresses, prom dresses, dance costumes, and making quilts. She made many wedding dresses that deserved a medal including one for a world marathon runner in Disney World and one for Mary Jo Andretti, daughter of famous racecar driver, Aldo Andretti. She had many hobbies including playing the piano, gardening, knitting, being a mom, a grandma, visiting with friends and walking. She was a member of St. Christopher parish in Speedway where she loved to sing in the choir.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years Donald E. Brooks, son Stephen (Amanda) of Indianapolis; daughter Rebecca, of Brownsburg; grandchildren Daylon, Shailyn, Emmalise, and Aiden; sisters Lois (Greg) Short of Muncie; Marilyn (Mike) Pitts of Littleton, CO; Margaret (Brian) Ferrebee of Yorktown; brother-in-law Randy Albertson of Muncie and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her sister Karen Alberston, Aunt Dorothy Tricker, Aunt Dolores Vest and her parents. She will have a Catholic Service at St. Christopher and will be cremated with Flanner Buchanan – Speedway. Online condolences may be sent to the family.
