Derlyn Sue Kelpis 80, of Carmel IN passed away from complications due to COVID-19 on Tuesday, November 24, 2020. She was born and grew up in a small town in Texas and moved to Indiana to marry her loving husband Carl where she started working as a hair stylist at the Marott Hotel in 1962.
After working at several other salons, she opened her first salon Bravo. Then in 1996, Sue opened 541 Salon and Design where she worked for over 20 years. After enjoying a career of 60 years as a successful stylist, Sue retired at the age of 78. She was a devoted wife to Carl and Both of Sue’s daughters,their husbands and grandchildren meant the world to her and she loved them dearly. Her family, friends and clients made her life so rich and complete. She loved helping people look and feel their best. She was a fast friend and lit up the room wherever she went. Her smile was infectious and her laugh unforgettable.
Sue is survived by her husband Carl, daughters Kimberly Peterson(Dirk), Melissa Kelpis Houser(Alan)and grand children Alec Peterson, Aria Remmel(Matthew) and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents G.O. and Patsy and her older brother Don. Due to COVID 19 restrictions there will be a private graveside service on December 7th with her immediate family only.
