Dennis Randall Brown

Dennis Randall Brown, 61, of Camby, Indiana, passed away on April 1, 2018. He was born September 11, 1956 in Owensboro, Kentucky to Earl and Jane Brown; the only baby boy of 4 siblings.

At 3 years old, Dennis moved to Indiana with his family where he would spend the rest of his life as a Hoosier. He was a Decatur Central graduate and attended Lincoln Technical Institute where he studied mechanics. Most of his career was spent with Stoops Freightliner but he worked for the Indianapolis Zoo for the last 12 years as a life support provider. He had a deep love of marine life and reptiles; he had always dreamed of being a herpetologist. He was also a certified scuba diver and loved taking trips exploring open water, he was definitely a brave, adventurous soul; it is easy to see why he felt closest to God when he was out enjoying nature. Family also remembers him a curious, smart man who loved traveling.  Dennis loved baseball; he served for many years a a little league coach and enjoyed attending minor and major league games. He also enjoyed going to concerts, playing chess, and reading. While all of these things describe him, his children remember him most as an encouraging dad who constantly challenged them. He was a one of a kind guy, loved by all, and will be truly missed by all who had the honor of meeting him.

He is predeceased by his parents; Earl and Jane, and sister; Linda Nelson. Surviving to cherish his memory are his children; Sara (Richard) Griffin and Daniel Brown, sisters; Joyce (Chet) Sparks and Brenda Miller; many nieces and nephews; as well as a host of extended family and friends who were loved like family.

Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial gathering in honor of Dennis on Friday, April 6, 2018 from 11 AM- 1 PM with a memorial service taking place at 1 PM, held at Flanner Buchanan – Decatur Township, 5463 Kentucky Avenue, Indianapolis, Indiana 46221.
