Dennis Odell Cleary, Sr.

Dennis Odell Cleary Sr. of Indianapolis died peacefully on July 26, 2018 at the age of 80 surrounded by his loving family.

Dennis was born March 6, 1938 in Tompkinsville, Kentucky to the late Richard and Vera Cleary.  He retired from Roofers Local 119 after many years of service. He was a talented musician playing many instruments including the guitar, banjo and the mandolin.  He was an avid fisherman enjoying fishing trips with family and friends and will be greatly missed.

Dennis is survived by his sons Ernest Cleary (Candie) and Dennis Cleary Jr; step-daughter Karen Reynolds (Dennis); sisters Della Canada, Carolyn Cleary, and Hazel Murley; brother Patton Cleary; as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his children Charles, Michael, Ruthanne and Brian Cleary; sisters Zella Thacker and Pauline Rhoton; and brothers John, Marlin and Harley Cleary.

Visitation will be held Monday, July 30 from 11 AM to 1 PM at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East, 10722 E. Washington St, Indianapolis. A Funeral Service will follow at 1 PM at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest at Washington Park East Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Riley Children’s Foundation, 30 S Meridian St #200, Indianapolis, IN 46204.
