Deloris Ruth Hamilton of Indianapolis passed away on November 22, 2020 surrounded by her loving family at the age of 91.
She was born January 28, 1929 in Sullivan County, Indiana to the late Lawrence T. and Edith I. Robertson.
Deloris graduated valedictorian from Pleasantville High School. She was a cheerleader and played the drums. She also enjoyed playing piano. After marrying, they moved to the Indianapolis area where she began her family. She worked at Herff Jones and retired from Hooks Drugs/CVS after 27 years. She was a pharmacy technician and loved her job. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and loved going to service and talking to the young missionaries that she met. She enjoyed taking vacations with her adult children and seeing interesting and historical places around the country. She just loved anything with family!
Deloris Hamilton was a woman ahead of her time. She lived a long beautiful life surrounded by family. The life she lived and the impact she had on others model unconditional love to everyone, accepting people just as they are. She made sure everyone had what they needed and no one went without, family pets included! She opened her home to family and strangers whenever there was a need and wanted to see the good in all people. She also made the very best beef noodles that none can compare to! She helped care for all of her grandchildren and was actively involved in the lives of her great-grandchildren as well. She was the very best matriarch her family could have ever asked for and will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her children, Douglas (Jan) Hamilton, Richard Hamilton, Patricia (Pat) Cain, Diana (Tim) Haag, Teresa Hamilton, and Gerald (Susan) Hamilton; 8 grandchildren, Adrian (Lorri) Hamilton, Leticia (Jon) Latinovich, Rachael (Ben) Deceuster, Justin (Rachel) Hamilton, Carlos (Jose) Cain, Cassie (Justin) Lebata, Tim (Laura) Haag, and Brooke Hamilton; 21 great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Wilfred Hamilton; brother, Lowell “Bud”; and sister, Gertrude “Babe”.
