Delores "Dee" Ann Mason

November 5, 1940 — January 9, 2025

Indianapolis, Indiana

Delores Ann Mason, 84, of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away on January 9, 2025. She was born on November 5, 1940, at Coleman Hospital for Women and grew up on the Westside of Indianapolis. A proud graduate of Ben Davis High School, Class of 1958, Delores is preceded in death by her parents, Vernon E. Stevens, Anna Mae Stevens (Cook) and her older brother Vernon “Skip” Stevens.

Delores was a devoted mother to six children, a loving grandmother to 13, and a proud great-grandmother to 18. She is survived by her children, Dianna Napariu (Mike), Donna Dampier (Jim), Danny Cutshaw (Heather), Scott Cutshaw, Mark Cutshaw and Gregg Mason. She is also survived by her younger brother Patrick Stevens (Steff).

Delores worked for Indiana Bell in Indianapolis, IN, as a Directory Assistance Operator from 1973 to 1987. She also enjoyed a successful career as an “Avon Lady” for several years going door-to-door selling cosmetics and perfumes in the now “collectable decanters.” She was deeply committed to her community, serving as the Director of the Fountain Square and Fletcher Place Investment Corporation, where she received a commendation for her outstanding work in enhancing affordable homeownership and the quality of life in her neighborhood. On November 4, 1993, she was honored by the Southeast Neighborhood Development, Inc. (SEND) for her 25 years of service, receiving a red vest in recognition of her contributions.

Outside of her professional achievements, Delores had a passion for dancing and singing, entering her twin daughters in dance contests. All her children enjoyed the musical talents of her family and the good ole “Cook family reunions.” She loved her home, which she had cherished since 1978, as well as her neighborhood and the close-knit community of friends and neighbors around her. Delores found great joy in her backyard, creating a peaceful sanctuary around her pond and caring for her fish and the bees she so loved, along with her son Gregg’s dogs, Chloe and Skye.

Delores will be remembered for her warmth, her infectious smile and generous spirit, her dedication to her community and her unwavering love for her family, home and neighborhood. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Visitation to honor her life will be held at Floral Park Cemetery on January 22 from 4:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. with a service to follow.

Rest in peace, mom. You will be deeply missed but forever remembered by all of us!
