Delores Ann -Dee-Dee- Bates

Delores Ann Bates, 74, of Indianapolis, passed away on Monday, September 5, 2016. She was born on May 13, 1942 in Indianapolis to Joseph Cantrell and Anna Elizabeth (Gilbert) Hill. Delores attended School 26 and Crispus Attucks High School, earning her GED later in life. She worked for L.S. Ayres and also Methodist Hospital as a Nurse’s Aide. Delores was a 15 year member of Emmanuel Free Will Baptist Church and enjoyed watching sporting events of all kinds; especially Purdue University Athletics. She is survived by her children, Larry (Carol) Bates, Rodney (Denise) Bates, Darrian Bates, Laura Ann Bates, Ingrid (Joseph) Thompson, Shonna (Warren) Harris; 24 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-granddaughter. Delores is also survived by her sister, Joanna Cannon; and former husband, Ronald Lee Bates. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Norma Cheers; and son, Mario James. Services will be held on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at 1pm in Flanner and Buchanan – Washington Park East. Visitation will be held 2 hours prior to the service, also at the funeral home.
