Debra Jean Troyer PhD, age 60, passed away on Saturday, June 1, 2024, in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Debra was born on February 1, 1964, in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, the daughter of Marlin and Marilyn (Ringenberg) Troyer. She is survived by her father: Marlin (Evelyn) Troyer of Niles, Michigan. She was preceded in death by her mother Marilyn Troyer, who passed away on September 12, 1999. Debra is also survived by two sisters: Stephanie (David) Criswell of Bloomington, Indiana and Susan (Matthew) Davis of Granger, Indiana. She has five nieces and nephews: Jonathan and Lauren Criswell and Joshua, Jacob and Rachel Davis.
Debra graduated from Indiana University Bloomington and Arizona State University where she earned her PhD in psychology. After graduating from ASU she moved to Indianapolis where she worked as a clinical psychologist. She treated all generations, specializing in children and adolescents. She touched many lives and enjoyed helping people. She published numerous articles over the course of her career and received the chief psychology intern award from IU School of Medicine, which further demonstrated her dedication to excellence.
She was an accomplished musician and enjoyed playing the cello and piano. She was very creative and had many interests which included jogging, boating, traveling, crafting, sewing, knitting, and reading.
As children, Debi and her sisters were known as the three “Troyer Girls.” Debi was much loved and will be forever remembered as one of the Troyer girls!
