Deborah "Debbie" Jane St. John

Deborah “Debbie” Jane St. John, 67, of Indianapolis, IN, passed away August 7, 2020 surrounded by her beloved family. She was born on April 21, 1953 to the late Lynn and Dorothy Meyers Albring in Toledo, OH. She grew up on the Albring Farm in Temperance Michigan.

After graduating from Ida Township High School, she went on to receive her associate degree from Cleary University in Ann Arbor, Michigan. After college, she married Gerard “Jerry” Elmer and they lived in Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti Michigan. They had 4 children together. In 1988, Jerry sadly passed away.

In August 1989, Debbie met Dave St. John while he was in Ann Arbor for the Michigan 500. From that weekend, a long distance romance began until in 1993, she married Dave and moved to Indianapolis. They then had a daughter together and proceeded to raise their five children. Debbie’s kids were the most important part of her life. Debbie also loved her cats, Finley, Hobbs and Darcy.

Debbie was an active part of her community as a member of Fishers Tri Kappa and enjoyed playing golf, bowling, sewing, quilting, cooking, baking, and gardening. In Tri Kappa, she helped organize events such as the Jr. Golf Tournament, Cookies with Santa, and Bingo. She played in the Working Gals Golf League at Ironwood for 20 plus years and for a few years helped organize the weekly events. She also bowled in a ladies morning bowling league during the winter, again for 20 plus years. As for her cooking and baking, when Debbie was the host of a dinner event, everyone came as it was always quite a treat. With her gardening, Debbie loved her flowers and every spring couldn’t wait to get her pots planted. She enjoyed all of these aspects of her life and touched many people with her participation in these various activities. The overwhelming response by her friends after learning about her illness really shows how special Debbie was to them and to anyone who ever met her. She will be missed by everyone.

Debbie is survived by her adoring husband, David W. St. John; children, Gerard “Jerry” Elmer, Shay (David) Weidberg, Grant (Lexy) Elmer, Garret (Jennifer) Elmer, and Kelsey St. John; Grandchildren Aubrey, Andrew, Michelle, Mercy, Grace (born Aug 5), and Cadence; Siblings Bill Albring (Karen), John Albring (Sue), Mike Albring, Diane Monaghan, and Colleen Clock (Tom).

Debbie is preceded in death by her parents Lynn and Dorothy Albring, and first husband Jerry Elmer.

Debbie loves flowers so they are welcomed but if desired memorial contributions can be made to the Megan S. Ott Foundation at “megansottfoundation.org” or the American Cancer Society at P.O. Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123.

Due to Covid, services will be held privately at Flanner Buchanan – Geist. Burial to follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens
