Dean McClary, 75, of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away on November 10, 2022.
He was born on December 18,1946, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to Charles and Virginia McClary.
He graduated from Arsenal Technical High School and went on to serve 4 years in the U.S
Marine Corps, becoming a Vietnam veteran. Upon returning home, he retired from Eli Lilly’s
after 46 years of employment. He was an active member of his church, Holy Spirit. He also
devoted his free time to volunteering for the chaplains’ services at the V.A. Hospital. His hobbies
included going fishing, collecting trains and watching hummingbirds. Dean was a loving and
selfless father, brother, uncle, and friend to everyone he met. He was also a proud grandfather
and known to many as “Papal”.
He is survived by his sister Diana and brother-in-law Tom Connors. His Daughter Tammy and
granddaughters Nastasha and Gianna Johnson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Nathan, his wife Alice, his twin brother Donald
and younger brother Dennis.
Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, November 19, 2022 at Flanner Buchanan –
Memorial Park, 9350 East Washington Street, Indianapolis, Indiana, 46229 with burial to follow
in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held from Noon until time of service.
