Dawnie J. Barnhouse, 68, Indianapolis, died Sunday, February 19, at her home on the west side of Indianapolis.
Born August 5, 1954, in Indianapolis, she was the daughter of Don and Jo Ann Wingler Noble. A graduate of Avon High School, Dawnie earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in music education from Butler University. On June 19, 1976, she married Jason F. Barnhouse, who preceded her in death on May 3, 1991. She is survived by her two sons, Jonathan and David, her brother, Ken Noble, sister-in-law, Lori, nephew, Benjamin, and an extended family of loved ones.
Dawnie’s career as a music teacher touched the lives of countless students throughout her tenure at Scecina Memorial High School, Knox High School, Zionsville schools, and most recently, Wayne Township schools. For three decades, she also served as the organist at John Knox Presbyterian Church, where she was a dedicated member. Her role as “Mom”, though, left everlasting love for her sons and every single youngster she was proud to claim as one of her kids.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 4, at 1 p.m. in John Knox Presbyterian Church, 3000 N. High School Road, Indianapolis, and will also be viewable online. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church.
Burial will be in West Ridge Park Cemetery, Indianapolis.
