David Wayne Johnson

David Wayne Johnson, 69, of New Palestine passed away Wednesday, December 18th after a 12+ year fight with cancer.

He was born August 25,1944 in Athens, AL to the late L. N. H. ‘Joe’ &. Genell Johnson.

Wayne graduated from Warren Central High School in 1962 and was married to Patricia Grinstead (Strane, Johnson) from July 8, 1966 to March 16, 1981. 

He was an avid sports fan and a member of the Indiana Amateur Sports Hall of Fame, with a long and distinguished career in fast-pitch softball. He worked at Western Electric and Eli Lilly for 19 years each.

Wayne is survived by two sons: Christopher (Amy) and Bradley (Barbara) Johnson; and four grandchildren: Alexandra, Abigail, Courtney, and Isaac; three siblings: Deborah (Bud) Boepple, Michael (Judy) Johnson and Susan (Gary) Stites.
