David W. Brown

David W. Brown, 78, passed away on August 2, 2018. He was born on May 21, 1940 to the late Dr. Wendell E. Brown and Evelyn J. (Bentley) Brown.

All types of auto racing was a big part of Dave’s life. Racing started as a hobby during his younger years.

After leaving his position of Chief Information Officer for Golden Rule Insurance, Dave turned his hobby and love of racing into a second career. He worked for Indianapolis Raceway Park, the Indianapolis 500, and the Indy Racing League. He was involved in creating what he felt was an elite track safety team, “the men in the orange suits,” helping to keep race cars and drivers safe while on the track.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 50 years, Joan (Darling) Brown; daughter, Cassandra Roeder; sons, Christopher and Timothy Brown; grandchildren, Olivia, Jade, Taylor, and Tobey; and great grandchild, Trevor.

He was preceded in death by his son, Scott David Brown.

Visitation will be on Friday, August 10, 2018 at Flanner Buchanan-Zionsville, 105 West Pine St., from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Funeral Service will directly follow at 1:00 p.m. Burial will take place at Crown Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Indy Family Foundation-The Benevolent Fund of Motorsports.
