David R. Ford Jr., 78, of Indianapolis, passed away July 4th, 2023. He was born in Indianapolis January 20th, 1945, to parents David and Shirley (Fox) Ford.
David grew up in Indy and graduated from Howe High School.
He worked as a salesman for many years in many different fields before retiring in 2014.
On September 16th, 2000, David married the love of his life, and longtime girlfriend Shirley Adcock. They shared, in total, 32 wonderful years together.
He was a member of the Moose Lodge and proud to be the president of the Old Timers Golf League at Pleasant Run golf course.
David was a strong, compassionate gentleman, with the gift of gab. He never knew a stranger and treated his friends like family. He and his wife enjoyed slow dancing, playing Euchre with friends, and fishing. They loved to travel, spending time at sunny beaches and exploring local Indiana towns. Food was always a passion for David; he loved to try new restaurants and didn’t mind paying extra for quality dining. David was a coach for little league teams for many years, and he loved being a grandpa.
David was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife Shirley; his children Tony Ford, Lisa (Monica) Morgan, Laura (Jerry) Adcock, and Larry Adcock; grandchildren Alyssa Ford, Kirsten (Dakota)Temple, Kayson Ford, and Mallory (Joe) Kimmack; five great-grandchildren; and siblings Sandy Sterling, and Debra (Rhonda) Ford.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and his brother Randy Ford.
Visitation will be Monday July 10th, at Flanner Buchanan Washington Park East, from 11-1pm. His funeral will begin at 1pm. He will be laid to rest at Washington Park East Cemetery.
