David Neal Smith, Sr., 68, of Speedway, passed away Saturday, October 7, 2017.
David was a proud Marine Veteran, who served in the Vietnam War. He also was a proud father and grandfather. David had a Mustang that he loved dearly. He would take it on many trips all over Indiana. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, and sports. David worked and retired from Conrail where he was a railroad supervisor. He was an all-around great man and will be sorely missed.
David is preceded in death by his parents; Ralph M. Smith and Mary Elizabeth (O’Neal) Smith; brothers, Stephen Smith and Carl Smith; and niece, Laurie Ward.
He is survived by his son, David N. Smith, Jr. (Leslea Sheets); sisters, Marsha Kay Wainscott (Greg) and Judy Smith; brother, Wayne Smith; grandchildren, Madison and Ariel-Ivy Smith; Nieces, Lisa Kay Hufferd (Tom), Tammy Kay Dugle (Jamie), Davina Tarpley (Kevin) and Sara Smith; nephews, Eric Buster (Kathy) and Matthew Smith; and former wife and lifelong friend, Paula Freeman.
Visitation will held on Monday, October 16, 2017 from 4:00pm-8:00pm at Flanner and Buchanan – Floral Park, 425 N. Holt Road, Indianapolis, IN 46222; and additionally, from 10am-11am on Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at St. Christopher Catholic Church 5301 W. 16th St. Indianapolis, IN 46224. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the church at 11 am.*
