Missionary David McCrorie went to be with his Lord on Monday, January 31, 2022. He was 73.
David was born December 9, 1948, in Souderton, Pennsylvania, to parents Henry and Annie (Gerhart) McCrorie. He graduated from Souderton High School. David proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1968 until 1970, spending a year fighting for freedom in Vietnam.
Then, in October 1970, David married the love of his life, Betsy. They would share 52 wonderful years together. After a traumatic accident in 1973, David and Betsy rededicated their lives to Jesus and started growing in their faith.
At the age of 30, David moved his family to Indianapolis where he pursued and received his Bachelor’s degree from Indiana Baptist College. Following the continued leading of the Lord, David took his family on deputation and then to the mission field, ultimately spending 38 years sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ in Scotland and Canada. He and Betsy were sent out from Suburban Baptist Church with Baptist World Missions. Most recently, he served as the pastor of Crossway Baptist Church in Tecumseh, Ontario, for the last 18 years.
David could make anyone laugh. His life was characterized by determination, generosity, and enduring faith. He enjoyed being outdoors, hunting and fishing and traveling. He was a talented woodworker and enjoyed golfing, darts, and all Philadelphia sports teams. Always learning, David even earned a Master’s degree from Northland Baptist Bible College at the age of 44. Above all, he adored spending time with his family.
David is survived by his loving wife Betsy; children Brian (Deborah) McCrorie; Lisa Richards; Christy (Tom) Sitek; and Kevin (Korinne) McCrorie; grandchildren Christina, Jonathan, Ashley, Kayla, Jason, Karissa, Nathaniel, Keith, Liam, Callum, Henrik, and Charlize; and brothers Steve McCrorie, James Murphy, Scott Reichert, and Kevin Reichert. David is preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation for David will be Saturday, February 12th, at Heather Hills Baptist Church from 9-10am. His funeral service will begin at 10am. He will be buried in the Garden of Honor at Washington Park East Cemetery with full military honors.
We would encourage donations in David’s honor to be made to the Fellowship Tract League.
His life verse was Proverbs 3:5-6 which reads, “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”
