David M. Frymire, 89, Carmel, passed away Sunday, April 15, 2018. He was born July 19, 1928, in Sugar Pine, CA, the son of the late John Goodson and Harriet Eleanor (Griggs) Frymire. He married Margaret O’Bryan on May 19, 1947. She preceded him in death on May 6, 2015.
David attended the University of Kentucky and was a student in the College of Agriculture for 18 months before being asked to return to Meade County High School to teach veterans for two years in the farmer training program. He returned to UK and graduated in 1952 with his Bachelor of Science degree. David was a member of Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity. He retired in 1988 from the Elanco animal health division of Eli Lilly and Company as the New Products Manager. Among his many professional and civic accomplishments was serving as president of the Livestock Conservation Institute.
He was an active member of First Baptist Church, including previous service as a deacon. David loved to watch baseball and go fishing, but his greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family.
David is survived by eight children, Karen (Willie) Barham, Peggy (Rick) Hampton, Patti (David) Peaper, David G. (Carol) Frymire, Daniel (Darnell) Frymire, Kay (Ed) Grauman, Beth (Phil) Anderson, and John (Christina) Frymire; 29 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; brother, John Griggs Frymire; and a sister, Bettiruth Bruington. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Mary Jennifer.
Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, April 19, 2018, at Flanner Buchanan – Carmel, 325 East Carmel Drive, and one hour prior to the services at the church. Services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, April 20, 2018, at First Baptist Church, 8600 North College Avenue. Memorial contributions may be directed to the First Baptist Church or to Gleaners Food Bank.
