David Lee Wilson

David Lee Wilson, 41, of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away suddenly on July 2, 2018. He was born May 30, 1977 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Robert and Peggy Wilson; one of two sons.

Born and raised in Indianapolis, David was a class of 1995 Decatur Central graduate. He met the love of his life, Loretta, 20 years ago in an Arby’s drive-thru. The two went on their first date in September to Anderson’s Orchard in Mooresville, less than a year later they were married. They raised a beautiful family together and remain deeply in love upon his passing. David was an incredibly hard worker. He built a career as a forklift operator and worked for Forward Air for 18 years. He was a goofy man who loved baseball cards, eating good food, and always laughed with his eyes closed; the sincerest laugh of all. He loved playing games, especially going to Dave and Buster’s to have a good time. His four children remember him as a “super-dad”. He was supportive, caring, loving, and their number one fan during their ball games.  His wife remembers him as the best husband a wife could imagine, a man who was always cracking jokes and who was always funniest man in the room.  Family was everything to David, he loved them deeply and wasn’t afraid to let them know. He cherished his only grandchild, 15 month old Sophia, whom he will still be watching over. He was truly a one of a kind man who will be deeply missed by family, friends, and anyone who had the pleasure of meeting him.

He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Loretta; children, Savanah Smith (Tony Thomas), Braxton Wilson (Dayna Taylor), Gabrielle Wilson, Vanessa Wilson (Jared Thompson); granddaughter, Sophia Smith; parents, Robert and Peggy Wilson; brother, Michael (Marcy) Wilson; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who were more like family.

Family and friends are invited to visit Tuesday, July 10 from 4-8 PM at Flanner Buchanan – Decatur Township, 5463 Kentucky Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46221. Services will take place Wednesday, July 11 at 1 PM at the funeral home.
