Fishers

Fishers, Indiana – David Joseph Miller, 79, passed away peacefully on November 3, 2024, after being comforted by his dear friends and wife, Donna. His dry wit and generous nature will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

David was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, to parents George and Josephine (Myers) Miller on October 13, 1945. He joined the United States Army out of high school, where he served in Korea, constructing roads in the demilitarized zone. After leaving the Army, he met the love of his life, Donna Nierman, who soon became Donna Miller on August 15, 1970. They celebrated their 54th anniversary this year. After their marriage, he also attended the Indiana University extension. David went to work at Cummins in Columbus, Indiana for over 45 years until his retirement in 2013.

In his off time, David followed both sports and financial news. If his television didn’t have an Indiana University football, basketball game, or NFL game on, he was tracking the stock market.

David was known for his gregarious nature and generosity. Whether it was slipping $100 bills to his nieces and nephews or just enjoying the company of his family, David was happiest when he was with other people and friends. He always had a soft spot for animals as well, having several dogs with Donna throughout the years.

David is preceded in death by his parents, George and Josephine Miller.

David is survived by his beloved wife Donna Miller and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at Washington Park Cemetery on Monday, November 11, 2024, at 11 am. Friends and family will gather at the funeral home, Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East (10722 East Washington Street, Indianapolis, Indiana, 46219) at 10:45 before processing out to the cemetery.

The family requests that memorial donations be made to either the Hamilton County Humane Society, Holy Cross Lutheran Church’s Above and Beyond for Those to Come initiative, or to a charity organization of your choice.
