Carmel, Indiana – David Edward Olsen 60, passed away on July 6, 2018 after a short struggle with pancreatic cancer. During his formative years David was active in the Boy Scouts. He graduated from North Central High School and Wabash College, and obtained his MBA from Butler University. Sigma Chi Fraternity was a large part of David’s Wabash experience; after college he served as alumni advisor to the fraternity. David also enjoyed reminiscing about his experiences on the Wabash soccer team. David was employed for many years at Hamilton Title Security, owned by two of his brothers. David recently retired from the title search company he co-owned. He loved the Speedway, and this year attended his 49th consecutive running of the Indy 500. Along with racing, David was an avid golfer, and often served as a walking scorer for national professional tournaments. David is survived by two brothers, William and Thomas, his mother, Betty, and six nephews. His father, William, and brother, Robert, predeceased him. The family is grateful to his sweetheart, Liza Barbieri, of her loving care and concern. In David’s own words, “She has a wonderful heart.” Services will be held at 2:30 Friday, July 13 at Second Presbyterian Church; calling will begin in the church parlor at 1:00 p.m. Memorial gifts may be made to The Benevolent Fund of Motor Sports, Inc., d.b.a.
