David Earl Whited

David Earl Whited, life-long resident of Indianapolis, Indiana, departed this earth peacefully on September 26, 2021, at the age of 74.

David is survived by his wife, Linda Whited (Simmons); his children, Gerald (Tatyana) Whited, David (Terry) Whited, Allan Whited; grandson, Devon Whited; sister Judith Corn.  He is predeceased by his parents, Sam and Rosemary Whited; brothers Jerry and James; sisters, Dolores and Mary Ellen.

David was born May 20, 1947, the youngest of six children born to Sam and Rosemary Whited.  He faithfully and honorably served his country in the United States Army from 1964 through 1972 as a decorated silver star Civil Engineer, successfully completing three tours in Vietnam.  He worked as a private landscaper and maintenance technician until his retirement in 2009.

David was a devoted father and enjoyed spending time with his sons and grandson who were the most important parts of his life.  He enjoyed genealogy, and he was the go to problem-solver who often took on difficult projects at work and around the house.  He was a spiritual man and was involved in many church activities including participating in many junior church events.  He lived and loved life to the fullest, enjoying nature and animals. He will be deeply missed by his friends, family and all who knew him.

The family will receive friends at a Viewing which is scheduled on Sunday, October 3, 2021, from 4pm to 7pm at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East funeral home located 10722 E. Washington Street, Indianapolis, Indiana, 46229.   A funeral service is scheduled at 11:00 am on Monday, October 4, 2021, at the same location.  Brother Gary Pitcock will officiate. The burial following the funeral service will be held at Forrest Lawn Cemetery located at 1977 S, State Rd 135, Greenwood, IN 46143. Services will be live streamed and can be accessed using the following link – David Whited Livestream Services.

The family would like to express our deepest thanks for the wonderful help and care given by to the staff at the Richard L. Roudebush VA Medical Center.  Memorial contributions can be made to the Indianapolis Humane Society.
