David E. Chapman, Jr. was born December 19, 1969 in Beaufort, South Carolina. He was the son of David E. Chapman, Sr. and the late Susie Murray Chapman. David passed away at home Sunday, September 18, 2016, in Indianapolis, Indiana.
David grew up and was educated in Beaufort County Schools and was a 1988 graduate of Battery Creek High School. He went on to attend Benedict College where he studied Business Administration and pledged the Fall ’89 line of the Epsilon Epsilon Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated. He later studied Real Estate, obtaining an Associate’s Degree from Ivy Technical College in Indiana. Additionally, he studied Marketing at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis. David worked for many years in the restaurant industry, and was a longtime employee of Outback Steakhouse and later worked in management at GasAmerica/Speedway in Indianapolis, Indiana. David was a lifelong student of computer sciences and an avid software developer specializing in client-server architecture development. In recent years, David fulfilled his dreams and pursued this love of technology, and was self-employed as a webmaster and apps developer. He was eager to use his gifts and talents to help others whenever possible. He was working to ready the release of his latest Gas Price Alerts app at the time of his death.
Raised in a family with strong church roots, David accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age. He valued relationships, and he never missed an opportunity to show how much he valued and cherished his family and friends. To know him was to know his ready smile and his outrageously playful sense of humor. This is the David we will remember, and will miss.
Left to cherish David’s memory are his father, David E. Chapman, Sr., Sgt. Major, USMC-Retired, of Saint Stephens, South Carolina; a companion, Lisa Stanley of Indianapolis, Indiana; a son, Javen Chapman of Indianapolis, Indiana; a brother, Stanley (Alicia) Chapman of Birmingham, Alabama; a sister, Elandee (Michael) Thompson of Beaufort, South Carolina; special cousins, Kenneth (Wendy) Murray of Ridgeland, South Carolina; Angela Morrall of Alexandria, VA, James ‘Bishop’ Brown (Susan) of Alpharetta, Georgia, and Barbara Murray-Smith of Simpsonville, South Carolina; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family and close friends.
