David E. Clark (lovingly known as “Pa” by his two grandsons) passed peacefully at home on March 5, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Indianapolis, IN on June 25, 1948, to the late John Clark and Dorothy (Clark) Maxam.
On June 6, 1974, he married Faith Orcutt in Clearwater, FL, and they eventually settled in Speedway, IN, where they raised their two daughters, Jenny and Sarah.
Dave proudly served his country in the Navy during the Vietnam War from 1966 to 1970, stationed aboard the USS Okinawa beginning in 1967, where he was a Petty Officer Third Class Radioman. Afterwards, he worked in telecommunications, installing and repairing telephone systems for KLF until his retirement.
He was a kind, funny, humble man who showed his deep love and care for his family and neighbors through acts of service. He was a talented woodworker, having made many pieces of furniture for his wife, daughters and grandchildren. In his retirement, he loved tending to his backyard garden where he grew vegetables and sunflowers, spending time with his family, and taking care of neighbors and family with anything they might need help with. He quietly lived a life of service to others, never needing or expecting anything in return.
Dave will be deeply missed and always loved and remembered by his wife of 50 years, Faith; his daughters and sons-in-law, Jenny and Ken Smith of Kalamazoo, MI and Sarah and Luke Newton of Mooresville, IN; his two grandsons Ethan David Smith and Beau David Newton; his brothers and sisters Marlynn Funkhouser, Jean Comer, John Clark, James (Linda) Clark, Donald (Janet) Clark, and Thomas (Helen) Clark; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, John and Dorothy, and two siblings Steven Clark and Linda Foncannon.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
