David C. Campbell

David C. Campbell, 65 of Carmel, IN passed away on Monday, December 14, 2020 from COVID complications after an extended battle with Frontotemporal Dementia.

He was born on April 29, 1955 in Wilmington, DE to the late Clarence P. and Helen T. Campbell (Tucker). David was a graduate of Salesianum School, Wilmington, DE and The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. David also held an Industrial Engineering Degree from Delaware Technical College, as well as many real estate licenses and certifications.

He started his family and career in Wilmington, DE and worked his way from banking into real estate which took him on many adventures across the country. He moved with his family multiple times during his life, living in Erie, PA, Fort Wayne, IN, and finally Carmel, IN.

David was an avid golfer and a collector of model trains. He thoroughly enjoyed the great outdoors and spent much time hiking, fishing, and target shooting before his illness. David was an early adopter of technology and loved music and movies. He was quick-witted and would never pass on an opportunity to entertain you with a joke or a story. Most importantly he was a devoted husband and father who cherished time spent with his wife, children, and dogs.

David is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Karen M. Campbell (Szczerba) of Carmel, IN; son, David C. Campbell Jr. of Carmel, IN; daughter, Ann Marie C. Campbell of Carmel, IN; and sister, Claire C. Stecher of Wilmington, DE. He is also survived by his second mother as he called her (mother-in-law), Jean L. Szczerba of Wilmington, DE, as well as his caring and supportive brothers-in-law and sister-in-law whom he had known since he was 18 years old.  He is preceded in death by his brother, Reverend Paul J. Campbell.

Friends and family are invited to gather beginning at 5:00 pm on Monday, December 21, 2020 at Flanner Buchanan – Carmel, 325 E. Carmel Dr., Carmel, IN 46032, where a Catholic Funeral Service will begin at 6:00 pm. Interment will follow in Summer 2021 at Cathedral Cemetery in Wilmington, DE.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration, (theaftd.org).
