Lebanon, Indiana

David Brouse Brattain, 66 of Lebanon, passed away January 26, 2019. He was born on January 30, 1952 in Greencastle, to Rosemary and Donald Brattain.

David attended Greencastle High School, Greenbrier Military Academy, and Lambeth College.

He worked as a Press Technician for General Motors, and was also owner of Zionsville Country Kennel.

David married his loving wife of 31 years, Jill Brattain, on October 17, 1987.

He spent many years volunteering his time to Transport for Christ, Richard Roudebush Veterans Hospital, The Caring Center, FEMA, and the Krannert School of Physical Therapy Community Patient Resource Group. He was a member of CERT, Sons of the American Revolution, and he also belonged to the Indy Firebird Group.

David loved adventure, he hiked the wonderland trail around Mt. Rainier, Pike’s Peak, and others. He loved 4-wheeling, snowmobiling, and anything outdoors. He loved German Shepherds and had several wonderful dogs, but his best buddy was Feuer (Fire in German) and they were inseparable.

David was a member of Traders Point Christian Church. He was committed to show as many people as possible the love of Jesus and why it was important to have in their lives. He was an avid learner and reader of anything related to the life of Christ. A true conversationalist, David loved talking to people and finding out more about them, often finding ways he could encourage or go out of his way to help them.

He always had a smile, was never one to complain, and was a very gentle, humble, and incredible man.

David was preceded in passing by his parents, Rosemary and Donald Brattain; his siblings, Rose Steeley and Jerry Brattain; and his father-in-law, Charles Keen.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Jill Brattain; his children, Nick (Jenn) Brattain, Eric (Ciera) Brattain, and Emma (Micah) Wolfe; his grandchildren, Mallorie Brattain and Brantley Brattain; his stepmother, June Brattain: his siblings, Dixie Visker, Mark (Julie) Carr, and Drew (Kim) Brattain; and his mother-in-law JoAnn Keen, and her children, Rusty (Terrie) Keen, Candee (Howe) Seeds, and Christopher (Stephaine) Keen. David was also a loving uncle to many.
