David A. Bolduc

February 28, 1931 — January 29, 2025

Westfield, IN

David A. Bolduc of Westfield, IN, passed away on January 29, 2025, at the age of 93. He was born in Marquette, MI, on February 28, 1931, to parents, Arthur L. and Myrtle M. (Pascoe) Bolduc, along with five sisters: Gertrude, Nina, Dorothy, Margaret and Frances. He was a member of St. Maria Goretti’s Catholic Church.

Dave spent his childhood in Marquette, MI helping with his family’s general store. He enlisted in the Air Force and served during the Korean War as a radio technician stationed in Morrocco. Upon discharge, he relocated to Milwaukee WI where he met his beloved spouse Nathalie, and they started a life together raising three kids. He pursued a career in electrical engineering and was promoted through many roles over his almost 36-year career at Delco Systems Operations. He was an accomplished engineer who participated in the development of the navigation system for the Apollo moon program as well as navigation systems that enabled intercontinental aviation. During the Apollo 13 crisis in space, he was one of the engineers tasked by Nasa to help brainstorm ways to get the astronauts home safely. He was a Professional Engineer licensed in Wisconsin.

After retiring, he and Nathalie spent the winters in Scottsdale AZ where they always extended invitations to have their kids and their families come and enjoy the warm sunshine. Even though he was only in AZ for about 3 months each year, the community elected him to be the president of its HOA for many consecutive years. In 2010, they moved to Westfield Indiana to be close to their 3-year-old granddaughter but continued to visit Arizona each winter. Dave was elected president of the HOA for his new community in Westfield. In 2019, they moved into Copper Trace’s Assisted Living. While there, he became the community’s president of the Resident’s Council. Dave was always working to solve problems. Of all the titles his peer groups bestowed on him along the way, he was particularly fond of the title given him informally by the board of directors of the community in Arizona which captured both the breath and depth of his ability to find solutions to just about any problem – “Renaissance Man”.

He was the family patriarch and was always looking out for his kids. He volunteered his time to the cub scouts and was a softball coach for his son’s teams. He and Nathalie visited Maryland to visit their daughter Jennifer’s family including their grandsons Tyler and Carter. He instilled the importance of higher education and sacrificed along the way so he and Nathalie could provide financial support to allow them to pursue their dreams. He placed a high value on family time and ensured his family had annual vacations which often involved making wonderful memories together camping in our nation’s national parks.

David married Nathalie (Pellow) on July 26, 1958. They spent close to 67 wonderful years together. He is survived by his wife, son Tim (Lori) Bolduc of Westfield IN, daughters, Cathy (Paul) Hart of Madison WI and Jennifer (Dale) Schmidt of Germantown MD and his grandchildren, Katie Bolduc and Tyler Schmidt.

He was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters, and his grandson Carter due to a heart defect.
