David Charles Alms of Zionsville went to be with the Lord on February 22 , 2021. David is the son of Charles and Sandra Alms of Newburgh, Indiana.
David graduated from Castle High School in 1986, and from Purdue University in 1991. He then began working for Eli Lilly and Company as a chemical engineer, where he remained for his entire career.
In 1992, he married Linda Topp, who survives. Together they have two daughters, Megan Jacobs (Carson) of Noblesville, and Amy Alms of Zionsville. David is also survived by his sister, Sherry Willis (Steve) of Chandler, 9 nieces and nephews, and 6 great nieces and nephews.
David had a heart for teaching youth. He taught Sunday school for many years at the middle school and lower elementary levels. He helped create the Lilly Engineering Explorer post and helped lead it for 29 years. He was also a mentor for Lilly interns and new engineers.
David truly had a servant’s heart. He went on numerous mission trips around the country and in Guatemala. He could usually be found after an event helping clean up or working behind the scenes. He also led Zionsville United Methodist Church’s Council on Ministries for several years.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Moody Bible Institute in Chicago or Mission Guatemala.
