David Alan Gresham died on May 9th at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. David was born December 30th, 1958, the last of four children, in Mishawaka, IN to Grace and Richard Gresham. He attended Penn High School and Ball State University, where he majored in music education. After completing his bachelor’s degree, he enlisted in the Army. He attended the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, CA, where he studied German. He was later stationed on the Czech-German border as a military intelligence specialist from 1983 to 1986.
Following his honorable discharge from the service, David attended IU Maurer School of Law in Bloomington, IN. He married Nancy Louise Miller, the love of his life, in 1988. For twenty-nine years (1992 – death) he worked at OneAmerica as a respected attorney in advanced life insurance markets.
David had a lifelong love of music and was an accomplished vocalist. He was an active member of multiple choirs during his life and talented on the piano and saxophone. David was light-hearted, gregarious, and generous. He had a passion for history, gardening, putzing around in the garage, puns and storytelling.
He is preceded in death by his wife Nancy Miller. He is survived by his three siblings, two children, and two grandchildren. He leaves behind: Mary Ellen Donovan (Michael) of Bloomington, IN; Don Gresham of Lafayette, IN; Judy Rumschlag (Leo) of Vallonia, IN; Patrick Gresham (Jean) of Indianapolis, IN; Grace Hannan (Herman) and their children Luke and Irene of McCordsville, IN.
Calling will be held from 4pm until 8pm, Wednesday, May 12, 2021 at Flanner Buchanan-Broad Ripple, 1305 Broad Ripple Avenue, Indianapolis. Funeral services will be held at 10am on Thursday, May 13, 2021 at Faith Church, 9125 N. College Avenue, Indianapolis. Burial will follow services at Crown Hill Cemetery.
