David A. Hofmann, 83, passed away peacefully surrounded by family, in New Palestine, Indiana, on Monday, January 2, 2023.
He was born on January 31, 1939 in Indianapolis to Albert C. and Alma L. (Volk) Hofmann.
David was in the first graduating class of Scecina Memorial High School in 1957.
He worked as a Banker for 37 years at AFNB, American Fletcher National Bank (now Chase Bank).
He enjoyed the San Francisco 49’ers, Notre Dame, and was a proud veteran. He will be remembered for his quick wit and straightforward communication.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Cindy Gerlach (Tom), Tony Hofmann (Ruth Ann), Barbara Hartl (Mark), Ann Schmitzer (Paul), Matthew Hofmann (Marlo), Deb Black (Robert), Linda Demaree; brother Charles A. Hofmann (Jan); 14 grandchildren; and 1 great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years Elizabeth “Betty” F. Hofmann on April 15, 2022 and his brother Thomas B. Hofmann (Ruth).
A Memorial Gathering will be held Saturday, January 7 from 12-2 PM with a Memorial Service beginning at 2 PM in Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East, 10722 E. Washington St, Indianapolis. He will be laid to rest with his wife at Holy Cross Cemetery in Indianapolis at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
