Darlene Sue Smith

Darlene Sue Smith 74, of Brownsburg, died peacefully surrounded by her three sons in the hospital on November 1st, 2021. Darlene was the daughter of Norman Ray Beasley and Roberta Margaret Beasley in Indianapolis, IN.

Darlene graduated from George Washington High School in 1965. Following graduation, she and Gerry Smith were married and soon after began a family. Starting in March of 1965, Darlene gave birth to her first son, Jeffry David Smith. Three years later Ronald Neal Smith was born in April of 1968. Lastly, in January of 1974, Jason Vance Smith was born.

She had three Siblings. Robert Ray Beasley (1931-2009), Eugene R. Beasley (1934 – 1969), and survived by Rosemary G. Beasley (1935 – present).

Darlene was survived by her 7 grandchildren and two daughters-in-law. Wesley Smith, Christy Smith and Katy Smith (Children of Jeff and Linda Smith). Veronica Smith (daughter of Ronnie and Beatriz Smith). Chandler Smith, Austin Smith, and Samantha Smith (Children of Jason Smith and Kelly Smith-Weller). All of whom she loved and cherished with all her heart. These were the people who made her world.

She was happiest when surrounded with family and friends. She had a knack for creating the best of home life for everyone. Whether it was her immaculate clean home, delicious home cooked meals, or the love of decorating her home for every holiday… everyone felt warm, cozy, and welcomed in her presence.

Darlene had a special zest for life that included her love of cooking, home décor, crafting, collecting, antiques, and her love of dogs (Sadie was her last wire-haired fox terrier that brought her so much joy). She also enjoyed her black cars and loud music. Since the 80’s, you could find Darlene in her black cars that she affectionately named “Black Beauty” and her personalized license plates with the windows down and good music playing. It was these little details that made an amazing lady even more special to us all.
