Darlene Janine Washburn

Darlene Janine Washburn, of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away on Friday, January 10, 2020 at the age of 77. She was born on August 17, 1942 in Kokomo, Indiana to Clyde and Etna (Roby) Simmons.

Darlene grew up in Kokomo, but eventually moved to Indianapolis. She married John Herbert Washburn on May 31, 1963; from this union, two sons were born: Phillip and Randy. Darlene had attended college, however, upon the birth of her children, she decided to become a homemaker so she could devote all of her time and energy into caring for her family.

In Darlene’s later years, she enjoyed going on fishing trips with John; Michigan and Minnesota were two of their favorite destinations. If they were not traveling, she enjoyed relaxing at home with her beloved Pekingese, Blackie, and coloring in her adult coloring books.

Darlene is preceded in death by: her husband John Washburn; and parents; Clyde and Etna Simmons.

She is survived by: her sons, Phillip and Randy Washburn; 4 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
