Darlene Jane Sulzer Wildt, 84, of Indianapolis, went to be with her Lord and Savior on November 18, 2017 while surrounded by her loving family.
Darlene was born April 30, 1933 in Louisville, KY to the late Elijah Isaiah and Virginia Lucille Sulzer. She met the love of her life, Roy Wildt in 1949 and just a few short years later they were married on July 4, 1952, Dar and Roy had 65 wonderful years together. She loved to travel all over the world, often Darlene and Roy took “mystery trips” and gathered up children and grandchildren without telling them the destination. She was a devout Lutheran, attending First Trinity Lutheran in Indianapolis for many years, and she is now a member of Servants of Christ Lutheran Church in Indianapolis. During winters in Florida, she and Roy attended St. Paul Lutheran Church, in Niceville. They both loved teaching Sunday School and singing in the choir together. She was a wonderful cook and a master with a sewing machine, she made Halloween costumes, bathing suits, clothing, or anything anyone wanted. She volunteered for the Girl Scouts and after managing her household for many years, she worked for Warren Transportation. She cherished the time she was able to spend with her family, and was a loving and caring wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who will be truly missed by all.
She leaves behind her husband, Roy Wildt; children, Kevin Wildt (Debbie) and Kimberly Jones; grandchildren, Melanie Stall (Trevis), Jessica Wildt, Ashley Vermillion (Brad); great-grandchildren, Gavin Nye, Kaydance Stall, Kyndall Stall, Jalen Vermillion, and Little Miss Vermillion (on the way); sister-in-law, Yvonne Sulzer; mother-in-law, Sou “Cheecha” Wildt, many nieces and nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Douglas Webb Sulzer; and beloved grandson Taylor Brandon Jones.
Friends and family are invited to gather on Friday, November 24, 2017 from 4:00-8:00pm at Flanner Buchanan- Washington Park East, a funeral service will take place 11:00am on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at Servants of Christ Lutheran Church, 7650 Oaklandon Rd, Indianapolis, IN 46236. She will be laid to rest at Washington Park East Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to her church.
