Darlene Wanda (Lowe) DeHart, age 88, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2024, in Mooresville Indiana, her daughter Christine at bedside.
Darlene enjoyed weekends in Brown County Indiana in the 1970s at Shady Oaks Lake with her husband Chester and her children, Christine Adele and Jeffrey Allen. She also enjoyed arts and crafts and listening to music.
Darlene attended Decatur Central High School. She worked at RCA and Diamond Chain and attended business school.
On March 14, 1958, she married Chester at Pleasant Heights Baptist Church and began the most important role of her life, that of homemaker and mother. Chester and Darlene were married 62 years.
She was predeceased by her husband, her parents Flossie (Day) Lowe and Fred Lowe, her brothers and sisters, her twin grandsons Steven and Timothy Howser and her beloved Lhasa Apso, Teddy Bear.
She is survived by her children, Christine and Jeffrey, her granddaughters Cayla Marie DeHart and Marina Alexandra Howser and her great grandson, Liam Lundy.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Brown County Humane Society, Cats Haven Indianapolis, Chihuahua Rescue of Indianapolis or your local animal rescue/no kill shelter.
Christine sends her appreciation to the devoted staff at the Springs of Mooresville for providing excellent care for Mom. Darlene was loved by all and had a supportive community and lots of friends at the Springs.
Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at 10:00am at West Newton Cemetery, 7770 Newton Street Indianapolis, Indiana. Flanner Buchanan Decatur Township is assisting the family with these arrangements.
