Daniel Lee Benjamin, 66, of Danville, Indiana, passed away August 3, 2017. He was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on March 10, 1951 to the late John Clifford Benjamin, Sr. and Virginia Elizabeth (Horton) Benjamin. He graduated from Ben Davis High School in 1969 and immediately following, joined the U.S. Navy where he served proudly until 1974. Following his service, he was a service technician for Toledo Scale Company. Dan enjoyed his work as a Union Electrician and his involvement in the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local #481.
Dan will be remembered for his sense of humor, care, and, of course, his “tinkering” hobbies. Anyone who knows Dan, knows he is a fixer. He loved to help those he cared for, from fixing the speedometer on his brother’s old truck to taking their toys apart, only to put them back together, and restoring cars and motorcycles. Along those lines, he was an avid race fan. Dan was the only one who could successfully make their mother’s famous fudge.
Dan is preceded in death by his parents and sisters, the late Patricia Ann Graves and Phyllis Audrey Dunton.
Surviving to cherish his memory are his sons, Graeme Mitchell Benjamin (Vanessa) and Robert Daniel Benjamin; loving lifelong partner, Cynthia Benjamin; brothers, David Benjamin (Donna) and John Benjamin, Jr. (Barbara), cherished granddaughter, Madison Nicole, and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 8, 2017 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m., and additionally on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 from 12 p.m. until the time of service. Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m. at Flanner and Buchanan –Floral Park, 425 N. Holt Rd, Indianapolis, IN, 46222. Online condolences may be made to www.flannerbuchanan.com.
