Daniel L. Cassidy, 84, of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away on January 17, 2018. He was born April 29, 1933 in Lake Placid, New York to Lawrence and Kathryn Cassidy (Baker).
Daniel joined the United States Navy on October 31, 1950 in Albany New York where he served on the USS Bowers (APD 40). He separated from the Navy on February 23, 1953 as a Quartermaster Third Class. During his time in the Navy, he was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal. Daniel married his loving wife, Bernadette, in 1956 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He joined St. Ann’s Catholic Church in 1969, where of often volunteered for the St. Ann Festival. He was a trucker by trade, driving for Roadway Express until his retirement in 1996.
Daniel is preceded in death by his parents; son James D. Cassidy; siblings, Gerald Cassidy, Leonard Cassidy, Thomas Cassidy, Rita Cassidy, Eileen Hayes, and Catherine Niles. Surviving to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 61 years, Bernadette; Children, Deborah Marshall, Michael J. Cassidy, Jacqueline (Patrick) Caviston; Sisters, Mary Sullivan, Julia LaSalle; Grandchildren Daniel (Kelly) Marshall, Allison (Aaron) White; Great Grandchildren, Miles Marshall, Nicholas Marshall, Annabel Marshall, Liam White, Tanner White, Noah Marshall, and Emmett White. He will be greatly missed by all his friends and family.
Friends and family may visit, Tuesday, January 23, 2018 from 11-1 PM at St. Ann Catholic Church, 6350 S Mooresville Rd, Indianapolis, IN 46221. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 1 PM at St. Ann with Father Glenn O’Connor. Daniel will be laid to rest at Calvary Catholic Cemetery immediately following services.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to St. Ann’s Building Fund or the Veteran’s charity of their choice.
