Daniel A Harting
Dec. 27, 1933 – Jan. 23, 2017.
Daniel was born December 27, 1933 in Germantown, PA to the late Daniel W. and Ethel Harting. He was a graduate of Penn State University and received his Master’s degree from the University of Delaware. Dan began his long career as Vice President of Marketing for Maremont Corp., Chicago, IL. He came to Indianapolis in 1976 as V.P. Marketing for Mid-Con Corporation. Ordained a minister in 1985, Dan founded a Christian ministry; “Families Against Cults of Indiana”, where he faithfully served until 2004 when he suffered a major stroke.
Daniel is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Agusta Gudmundsdottir Harting, a native of Iceland-whom he met while an officer in the US Navy. Children, Lance K. (Kidist Solomon) Harting, Kim E. (Douglas) McKisson, Sherry A. (Anthony) Meyer, K. Heather (Dwayne) Job; stepson, Earl R. Haddix; 13 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren.
Dan served his country and was in the Navy Reserves another 20 years, ending with the rank of Lt. Commander. He was awarded an honorary Doctor’s degree in Theology in 2002.
A faithful Christian, a wonderful dad – a loving grandfather and servant of his Lord, Jesus Christ will be sorely missed by his big family and many good friends. Blessed be his memory and exemplary legacy.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Wednesday, February 1st at Faith Missionary Church 9125 N. College, Indianapolis, IN 46260.
