Dale E. Barnes

Dale E. Barnes passed away on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at the age of 84. He was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on June 16, 1934 to Hobart and Ethel Barnes.
Dale always cared about others; he would even pick strangers up who needed a ride, despite his daughters warnings about this. If he saw someone who looked down in their luck, he would gladly give them some money for a bite to eat. And that’s just how Dale was. A man with a BIG heart. He would always make those around him smile.
Dale was a loving father and grandfather. He had very strong and deep family values. So strong, in fact, that he made Genealogy one of his largest hobbies. Dale spent 5 years traveling around the United States finding out everything he could about his family and where they came from. He traveled to old cemeteries, interviewed local community members and spent numerous hours in local libraries seeking as much info as he could. Dale loved this so much that he wrote a book about it.
In Dale’s professional life he worked for Greyhound for 40 years! He began as a customer service agent and would eventually work his way up to management. Dale was a very hand man in his day, coming from two generations of carpenters. He would do routine maintenance work for Greyhound and others as well as electrical work! He built rooms on to every family members house as they grew. Dales love for building things and Putt-Putt came together on year when he built a Ronald McDonald Putt-Putt miniature golf course for the Riley Foundation.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents, Hobart and Ethel (Faulkner) Barnes.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory: two daughters, Rhonda (Dan) Buckley and Beth (Troy) Barnes and three grandsons.
