Curtis Randolph Harris, 89, of Indianapolis, went to be with his Lord and Savior, on August 25th, 2024. He was born in Overton County, Tennessee, January 24th, 1935 to parents Curtis H. Harris and Juanita (Ferrell) Harris.
Curtis grew up in Tennessee. There, he met the love of his life Joyce Nelson. On October 12th, 1957, they were married and shared 66 wonderful years together.
He worked as a machine operator for National Starch and Chemical corporation for many years before retiring.
Curtis was a longtime Baptist, and is faith was very important to him.
Curtis was a strong, loving gentleman. He was a devoted father and Papa, involved in everything his children wanted to do. He coached little league teams, and enjoyed helping with the Boy Scout Pinewood Derby. Being the math wiz he was, tutored his children in school. He was also the driver for endless activities for his kids and grandkids. Curtis enjoyed country music and loved watching any type of sport. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, tending to his yard and gardens.
Curtis will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his adoring wife Joyce Harris; children Marlon Harris (Alisa), Marty Harris (Cheryl), and Nancy Schenck (Todd); grandchildren Delaney Gillespie (Michael), Hannah Trulock (Noah), Conley Thompson (Bryce), Landis Schenck and Wyatt Schenck; great-grandchild Wesley Trulock; siblings Junior Harris, Nelda Looper, Royce Harris (Virginia), Joe Harris, Randall Harris (Kathy), Johnny Harris (Bobbie), Judy Seber (Bruce), Jerry Harris, Ronald Harris (Tonya), Donald Harris, and Frankie Harris (Sherry); and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and his sister Frances Thompson; and sisters-in-law Sue Harris and Ann Harris.
Visitation for Curtis will be Tuesday September 3rd, from 4-8pm, at Flanner Buchanan Memorial Park. Additional Visitation will be Wednesday September 4th, from 1-2pm. His service will begin at 2pm. He will be laid to rest at Memorial Park Cemetery.
