Crimine Lou Walther

August 13, 1932 — May 18, 2021

Indianapolis, IN

Crimine “Crimmie” Lou Walther, 88, of Indianapolis was called to Heaven May 18, 2021. Although her life began and ended Indianapolis, she also lived in Tennessee, Georgia, Texas, California, Hawaii, and Illinois. Crimmie was ahead of her time as a successful, female, commercial-lines insurance agent in a male-dominated industry. She retired as Vice President of Gregory & Appel Insurance and then transitioned to owning and operating Fieber & Reilly Insurance Agency with her son, Kurt, retiring again in 2001.

Usually the best-dressed person in the room, she was a chic, elegant, and poised businesswoman who loved a challenge and was relentless in her pursuit of righting a wrong for herself or others. She met challenges armed with facts, figures, and reasoned arguments and Crimmie usually emerged the victor. She was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed her physically or emotionally and was deeply loved, admired, and respected by her family and friends for her straightforwardness as well as her loving and supportive nature.

Retirement did not slow down Crimmie and while in her 70’s, she tried parasailing and achieved her first hole in one. She traveled the world and loved spending winter months in Naples, Florida. Crimmie, who was Nana to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, never missed acknowledging a birthday and was always looking forward to the next special occasion or family gathering.

Crimmie had a deep and abiding faith in God and knew she would be reunited with those she loved, including her beloved husband of 54 years, Wilfred “Walt” Walther, and her sister Joaun Campbell, who both preceded her in death. She was active in Smyrna Shine Guild and enthusiastically supported her husband’s involvement with the Murat Shrine organization as his First Lady during his ten years in line to become Potentate.

Crimmie is survived by her longtime partner, Roger Mosser; brother Tom (Dor) DeLoriea; children Debra (Derrick) Shrum and Kurt (Anita) Walther; grandchildren Jade (Todd) Mann, Neal (Kate) Walther, Alison (Adam) Kissee and Kristen (Josh) Rauch; 12 great-grandchildren Michael, Dylan, Taylor, Austin, Connor, Clayton, Claire, Hallie, Gavin, Bennett, Keagen, and Annie; and several nieces.

Our Mom, Nana, partner, and friend will be profoundly missed by all whose lives she touched. Private, family services will be held at Flanner Buchanan-Washington Park East on June 9, 2021. Those wishing to express their sympathy are encouraged to contribute to the Shriners Hospitals for Children or a charity of their choosing.
