It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Coral Cressman Terpening, 45, of Westfield, Indiana on April 12, 2025. A beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend. Coral passed away in Louisville, KY while attending a volleyball tournament with her daughters, leaving behind a legacy of love, compassion, and joy that touched everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Coral was born on December 17, 1979, to Greg Pyck and Kim (Garner) Pyck in Columbia City, Indiana. Raised in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Coral lived a life full of light, laughter, and purpose. A proud graduate of Carroll High School, Coral was was on the Dance Team and a setter on the Volleyball team whose bright spirit and team energy shone from an early age. Coral continued her education at Indiana University, earning a bachelor’s degree in science and becoming a registered nurse — a career that reflected her deep care for others.
Coral met the love of her life, Matt Terpening, in 1999, and the two were married in 2004. Their marriage was one built on mutual respect, laughter, and adventure. Together, they created a beautiful family life full of love, shared passions, and unforgettable memories.
Coral’s heart led her to the ICU floor at Community North Hospital, where she worked tirelessly and compassionately until her life’s greatest joys arrived: her daughters, Stella and Gwenyth. Becoming a mother transformed Coral’s world. She poured her entire being into raising her girls, guiding, supporting, and inspiring them every step of the way — especially on the volleyball court, where she served as both a coach and a role model.
Coral’s spirituality was the foundation of her life. Coral, Matt, and her daughters were on a heartfelt journey together, seeking deeper connection through their church, learning, growing, and walking hand-in-hand with God. Coral’s love for Christ, shone through her generosity, her openness, and the grace with which she treated everyone around her.
Adventurous by nature, Coral thrived in the outdoors. She found joy in hiking, paddle-boarding, biking, running, and playing volleyball with her girls. Her love for live music, energetic spirit, and willingness to try anything once made her the “bright light” in every room. Her friends often said her presence could lift a whole room — and it did, time and time again.
Coral loved yoga and practiced daily with a circle of dear friends who cherished her energy, laughter, and presence. Yoga was not only her exercise but her way of grounding herself, staying connected to her spirit, and nurturing the relationships she treasured.
Coral had an enormous heart for animals and welcomed many into her home and nicknamed her residence the ‘Terpening Zoo’.
Coral was deeply involved in her Westfield community, where she coached youth volleyball and passed along her passion for the game to many young athletes, including her daughters. Her legacy as a coach and mentor will live on in every player she encouraged, inspired, and believed in.
Coral was a lifelong sports fan who loved cheering for the Indianapolis Colts, and the Indiana Pacers. But her passion was cheering for her two daughters on the volleyball court.
Coral is survived by her loving husband, Matt Terpening; children, Stella Terpening and Gwenyth Terpening; her parents, Greg and Kim (Garner) Pyck; niece, Kennedy Pyck; sister-in-law, Cristina Herrera; nephew, Finn Pyck; sister-in-law, Suzanne Bautista; father-in-law, Bob Terpening; mother-in-law; Ginny Terpening; brother-in-law, Chris Terpening; sister-in-law, Betsy Terpening; nieces, Katelin (Daniel) Ifft and Kylie Terpening; and great nephew Eli Ifft and great niece Isla Ifft.
