Cook Stokes Brown, Jr. was born July 28, 1927 in Nashville, Tennessee and passed away January 20, 2017 in Avon, Indiana.Upon finishing high school, Cook served in the US Army during WWII. He married Wilma Jean Sain in Nashville, Tennessee on August 8, 1953 and they moved to Indianapolis 56 years ago. Cook worked as a Pipe Fitter in Union 669 for 35 years. He enjoyed watching the Indianapolis Colts, enjoyed the Indy car races and was able to attend the 100th running. He also enjoyed watching the Indianapolis Indians. Cook was a member of the American Legion.
He was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Antazane. Surviving to cherish his memory are his wife of 63 years, Wilma Jean Brown, his daughters, Susan (Donald) Gilley and Cynthia (Gregory) Brown, sister, Susan, friend, Maxine Book, grandchildren, Matthew Brown, Megan Brown, Fordena (Bryan) Wilson, Amber Book and Jacob Book and great-grandchildren, Zoren, Tatum, Verity, Ezhara, Fyra, Zanebryan, Xanta, Ahthavalae and Vada.
Friends may visit with Cook's family from 4-8 PM Thursday, January 26, 2017 at Flanner and Buchanan-Floral Park, 425 N. Holt Road, Indianapolis, Indiana 46222. A celebration of his life will be at 1 PM Friday, January 27, 2017 at Floral Park. Concluding services with Military Honors will follow at Floral Park Cemetery.
