Constance "Connie" Sue Purdy

Constance Sue “Connie” Purdy, 83, died Saturday evening July 4, 2020, at Brownsburg Health Care
Center.
Born December 2, 1936, in Indianapolis, she was the daughter of Thomas Russell and Geraldine Violet
(Toney) Campbell.
Connie was a 1955 graduate of Lawrence Central High School in Indianapolis and she received both her
bachelors and master’s degrees from Ball State University. She was an elementary teacher retiring from
the Indianapolis Public School system after 35 years of teaching.
On April 7, 1963, Connie was married to Richard Chester Purdy, in Lawrence, Ind. and they were later
divorced in 1977. He died in 1998.
Connie was a born again believer and always wanted to share her faith with anyone who would listen
about Jesus. The family rejoices in knowing that she is walking the streets of gold with her Savior.
Mrs. Purdy is survived by three daughters, Jenene (Kerry) Lighty, of Plainfield, Ind., Janette (Mark)
Bridgeman, of Memphis, Tenn., and Joanna (Navjoat) Bains, of South Lyon, Mich.; and five
granddaughters, Kayla Goodremote, Kali Lighty-Smith, Kinzie Lighty, Marissa Bains and Jolene Bains.
She is also survived by two sisters; Rita Milliron, of Greenwood, Ind., and Judy (Cosimo) Natali, of
Carmel, Ind.; two brothers, Thomas (Paula) Campbell, of Fishers, Ind., and Donald (Debbie) Campbell, of
Peru, Ind.; and one sister-in-law, Carmen (Tom) Mock, of McCordsville, Ind.
In addition to her parents and former husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers-in-law, Gene
Milliron and William Purdy.
Friends may call from 11 to 1 Thursday at the Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Home, 2950 N. High School
Road in Speedway. Service to follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in the West Ridge
Park Cemetery.
